As a kid, I expended innumerable hours building plastic model kits and have always loved models and model building. As an adult, my time is more limited, but I’ve continued to jealousy models of all kinds. Some years ago, I stumbled upon a new twist on an old hobby: paper models you may download from the Internet. You’ve probably seen those architectural paper models in the bookstore that only require cutting out and gluing together. This conception has come into the computer age. Now, there are innumerable paper models available on the web as graphic files. You plainly download the file and print out the pages on your color ink jet printer. Then it’s just a matter of cutting out the pieces and assembling your model. Even better, most of these models are free!

Why Paper?

Don’t think these models are like flimsy paper dolls or unrealistic and boxy. A few are, but most of them are cleverly designed and a joy to behold when completed. Some will have your friends scratching their heads in disbelief when you tell them their paper. I like the fact that their light weight makes suspending even larger aircraft models from the ceiling easy.

Building a card model has a good deal of vantages over conventional model building I like. I love that they are don’t require painting and may be assembled with mutual white glue. If you mess up a part, you may replace it without apparent effort by just printing out the page again.

What sort of models may you download free from the web? Because card models go straight from the architect to the builder, the range of subjects is much more outstanding than it is for production models. You may find card models (as builders call them) depicting all sorts of vehicles, buildings, and even animals. Movie and TV subjects are amongst the most popular. You may find free models of the Disneyland Sleeping Beauty Castle, the Graf Zepplin, the starship Enterprise (all versions), or a grand sailing ship.

Where Do You Find them?

Once you start out looking, you will find card models everywhere. Here are a great deal of tips to start: Doing a Google search of a subject with “paper model” on the line will almost always tell if it’s available online. There are a few outstanding link web sites and a heap of web sites full of in a professional manner designed models, such as Canon Creative Park. There’s a great forum called the Zealot Hobby Forum (http://www.zealot.com/forum/) full of model links, reviews and advice. Another good trick is to use the Google Reader RSS reader. In Reader, click the “Add a subscription” button and type in “paper model”. Cull through the feeds and subscribe to them. This way, you’ll be up on galore new models that have just been posted.

Formats

Most paper model downloads are available as PDF files, which may be viewed and printed using the free Adobe Acrobat Reader or galore other reader such as Foxit Reader (which I like). These normally offer all model files in a single multipage file. Usually, the author includes directions, too, even though with downloads, now and again you have to do a lot of interpretation. Otherwise, a model may be a folder of JPG graphic files, effortlessly printed from any graphic viewer. Rarely, a model will be offered in the PDO format, which may only be viewed and printed after installing the Pepakura Viewer. Pepakura is a program employed by a lot of designers to construct card models.

Printing

Card models are best printed using a good high solution color ink jet printer. Laser printers are not very good for model printing because they deposit powdered toner on the page which have a tendancy to crumble when bent.

Tools

Building a paper model does not require any particular tools. Have a bench or table someplace where you may leave an in-progress model out of harms way for the duration of assembly. You may cut out model pieces with scissors, but it’s best to go by the craft shop and pick up one of those plastic cutting mats. a 12 inch by 12 inch mat is fine. A good X-Acto knife is best, too. If you don’t want white paper edges showing on your model, there are a couple of ways to fix that. You may use a set of colored pencils or markers to conservatively color just the edge. I prefer watercolors for this, so I may thin the color to a shade closer to that of the printed surface. Any kid’s watercolor set will do, but it helps to pick up a very fine brush for this. Any white PVA glue will do. I use Alene’s Tacky Glue, but Elmer’s and others work fine. For gluing little parts, I use toothpicks: the flat sided type. Q-Tips are good for gluing more spectacular areas. Pick up a metal ruler for cutting straight line edges. If you’ve never done this, exercise a bit before attempting it on your model page. Another good thing to have is a may of spray-on fixative or varnish to set the water-based inks on the page before assembly.

There are free paper model downloads that may be collected in a few minutes and others that may take weeks. Try one. Paper modeling may not replace plastic modeling, but it may be a fun variation of your model-building routine.

Wegner
These markers are worth every penny. They work more like paint than markers. They blend easily, and give pictures a rich, vibrant color. I highly recommend them to anyone who wants to seriously color their artwork. Someone who just wants to color their art and doesn’t need something of a very high quality would be better off buying something cheaper, however, as these are professional quality (and price) markers.

The markers come in a durable storage box.

This set contains the most basic colors possible, with little deviation. The problem omissions are mostly lack of any skin colors or greys, as well as the fact that the yellow included is a rather weak color as yellows go.
However, if you’re just beginning, this is a good start. Each new marker you buy will cost you about five dollars, so think ahead about what you’re willing to spend.

Stillman
Copic markers are the highest quality marker on the market. They are popular with both the manga artists in Japan and artists in America. Copic markers are not for the beginner, but rather for more experienced artist wishing to get into some new high quality materials. Colors are limited in this set, but this set is a good place to start.
Colors created by Copic markers are spectacular, but before forewarned they very ink heavy and will bleed though your average paper.
COPIC Set of 12 Sketch Markers

When Christmas is thought of, everyone has their own personal effigy of the perfective day expended with family and enjoying the company of others. Computers were not around at the time when Christmas was primary celebrated but now that they are and modern computers are customizable to the user personal necessaries or settings, Christmas wallpapers for desktop computers are a great an easy way to start out the festive spirit in the household.

There are respective dissimilar categories and thousands of on an individual basis distinctive Christmas backgrounds that may be purchased and downloaded straight to your desktop. One such category is the traditionalisti idealisti scenery view of how a Christmas must look. Christmas wallpapers in this category will distinctively show a snowman wearing humane costume in front of a row of pine needle trees that are drooping from the weight of the powdery snow. Other traditionalisti Christmas backgrounds for desktops depict photographs of beautifully beautified trees with sparkly tinsel and colourful baubles as well as cosy little cottages that are set in the woods with icicles hanging from the roof. The warm picture of the front room on a cold winter’s day and a log fire burning on a stove with gifts and feed all around is possible the most enthusing Christmas wallpaper as it depicts the need to have no worries in the world.

There is also a category of Christmas background for desktops that display images of a cheery Father Christmas in his home land of Lapland. Elves working in the factories to develop the toys for all of the good children are also general Christmas wallpaper as are the reindeer and the sleigh that they pull. Christmas backgrounds have also added some humour to their range by having sketches or drawings of comedy. Some of these may be of distaste but there are a big number of brilliantly funny Christmas wallpapers for desktops that may be found.

The new trend is to have animated wallpapers and screensavers loaded on the computer. There are hundreds of very good quality animated Christmas backgrounds for desktops that are veritably remarkable. There are a good deal of that will plainly flick through a set of pre-stored photographs of which each will provoke stimulation and excitement in the eyes of a child who has looked forward to Christmas for the entire year. There are others that depict Santa Claus in Lapland with all of his toymaker elves helping him to load up the sack presents. Another great effigy for animated Christmas wallpapers for a desktop personal computer is one that shows Santa in his sleigh and travelling all around the world visiting rooftops of all the houses of the children. A favourite animated Christmas background will picture Santa getting caught out whilst sliding down the chimney and eating the mince pies that have been left for him by the children.

It may consequently be seen that whatsoever your age or preference, there is a Christmas wallpaper for desktop computers that will fit your desires and invent a outstanding sense of nostalgia and excitement whenever the computer is started up. It will also be a handy reminder to stock up on Christmas feed and get all of the buying goods done.

An strange novelty tea cosy and egg cosy featuring little stuffed chickens. These cosies would fit right into a country cottage kitchen with the free-range hens roaming around the top. Ideal for keeping the teapot and boiled eggs warm too, children genuinely receive pleasure from them. Taking less than an hour to make they do make a lovely surprise on Good Friday and Easter Sunday when you present somebody a hard boiled egg for their breakfast that still has a hen sitting on top of it.

Don’t be befooled into thinking this tea cosy and egg cosy with hens ought to be difficult to make, because they are genuinely very quick and easy with minimal shaping.

Row 3: *K2 tog* repeat to end.

Thread the end of the yarn through the remaining stitches and through the loop of the yarn itself and draw up the knitting tightly and Finnish off.

With the front and back right sides together, sew up the seam.

The Egg Cosy Nest…

Using dark brown knitting wool and size 5 knitting needles cast on 20 stitches and then cast off.

Stitch in a ring at the top of the egg cosy. Finally make a hen to sew at the top of the cosy.

However, I eventually tried these bamboo needles, and they are fantastic! They are really good quality, worth every penny. The yarn slides easily, but not so easily that you can’t keep hold of the yarn. These are really great, I have gotten 4 more sizes of the circular needles since my original pair. I love these!

B. Watkins
I had a hard time finding needles in this size, and these were great. I like the bamboo because it is light-weight and doesn’t make your hands cold like metal needles can.

Just know that they have the plastic cable that’s not very flexible. I knew that when I ordered and so I’m perfectly satisfied with what I got.

As a kid, I expended innumerable hours building plastic model kits and have always loved models and model building. As an adult, my time is more limited, but I’ve continued to jealousy models of all kinds. Some years ago, I stumbled upon a new twist on an old hobby: paper models you may download from the Internet. You’ve in all probability seen those architectural paper models in the bookstore that only require cutting out and gluing together.

I like the fact that their light weight makes suspending even more spectacular aircraft models from the ceiling easy.

Building a card model has a heap of vantages over traditionalisti model building I like. I love that they are don’t require painting and may be accumulated with mutual white glue. If you mess up a part, you may replace it effortlessly by just printing out the page again.

Once you commence looking, you will find card models everywhere. Here are a lot of tips to start: Doing a Google search of a subject with “paper model” on the line will almost always tell if it’s available online. There are a few great link internet sites and a good deal of internet sites full of in a professional manner designed models, such as Canon Creative Park. This way, you’ll be up on a heap of new models that have just been posted.

Formats

Most paper model downloads are available as PDF files, which may be viewed and printed using the free Adobe Acrobat Reader or a heap of other reader such as Foxit Reader (which I like). These ordinarily offer all model files in a single multipage file. Usually, the author includes directions, too, even though with downloads, occasionally you have to do a great deal of interpretation. Otherwise, a model may be a folder of JPG graphic files, effortlessly printed from any graphic viewer. Rarely, a model will be offered in the PDO format, which may only be viewed and printed after installing the Pepakura Viewer. Pepakura is a program applied by a great deal of designers to construct card models.

Q-Tips are good for gluing more prominent areas.

This is the recipe that my grandmother brought with her when she and her family left Russia in the early 1900′s. As a child around the 1920′s or so, while living on a farm in Pennsylvania which at that time there were a outstanding amount of people coming from Europe, you necessitated to be able

to do things for yourself. She learned from her mother how to make a most delicious white fruit cake, a white fruitcake is a fruitcake that does not have any molasses, molasses which is very bitter, not having the molasses in the fruitcake gives it a lighter color, this gives it the name white fruitcake.

This fruitcake in the days in which my mother lived as a child with her parents was only

made for the duration of Christmas because the only time you could get walnuts, cherries, and a good deal of other ingredient’s was in the fall of the year. Remember now they didn’t go to the store to buy what they needed, they had to grow them. Raisins were dried by the people themselves, they even had to shell their own walnuts, and candy their own cherries, and such the pineapple and coconut I do believe they will have to have purchased.

To keep with tradition the only time of the year that I make or trade this fruitcake is during

the Christmas holidays, and in my mind you cannot get a better fruitcake.

Here we go now gather up your ingredient’s and set them on your table, all ingredient’s need to be at room temperature.

1 pound butter

12 eggs

1-pound sugar

1 pound flour all-purpose

1 pound white raisins

1 pound walnut meats

1-pound red and green candied cherries

1-pound bakers flaked coconut

1-pound candies pineapple

1 tablespoon of baking soda dissolved in 1/4-cup warm water

2 cups brandy–any brand

Soak the raisins, walnuts, cherries, coconut and pineapple with 2 cups brandy for the length of one night in a stainless steel bowl.

In a 5 quart mixing bowl cream butter and sugar, then add eggs slowly, then add your flour and blend well, add the baking soda and water and mix a minute more, add all other ingredients and mix until well blended.

Mow you are going to bake it in 2 pound pan, or in the pan of your choice, foil or hard pan,

line the pan with wax paper or baking paper or better yet a pan liner the size of the pan.

For 2 pound pan:

Place 1 pound 12 ounces of the mixture in the pan and level it with a spoon, don’t bang it

on the table.

Bake it at 350 degrees for 1 hour to 1 hour 20 minutes depends on your oven and how brown you want it. It’s done when a pick is placed in the center and it comes out clean.

Let it cool on a rack for a while and then sprinkle it with 1 ounce of brandy and then another ounce when it is cool and then pack it away for regarding 3 days in your refrigerator and then enjoy.
